When Support is Conditional

I’ve learned a lot about support lately, especially what it looks like when it’s real, and what it looks like when it’s conditional.

I had people in my circle who seemed supportive always showing it, especially when it aligned with their image or interests. But the moment I stood up for myself during a real injustice, something tied to our own 💨 community they fell silent. Not just silent… distant. Cold. Mean even.

When I finally spoke up about how things made me feel, after holding it in for so long, they didn’t lean in. They pushed away harder.

That’s when I realized: some people don’t support you, they stand next to you while it’s convenient, while the spotlight’s shared.

But the minute your truth shakes the room, exposes truths, they move to the other side. Not because you were wrong, but because your power, your presence, your refusal to shrink made them uncomfortable.

It’s hard being a woman, a leader, a DJ, and an unapologetic force in a space that still has growing to do. And as my platform gets bigger, my circle gets tighter. But my purpose? That only gets LOUDER!!

To anyone else who’s felt that shift when you finally spoke up: you’re not alone. Your light didn’t lose them.. they were never holding it with you.
